Dr. Ulmer received his AB from Gettysburg College, his MA from The University of Washington, and his PhD from The Writing Program at The University of Houston. He was a Hoyns Fellow in Poetry at The University of Virginia and a Cullen Creative Writing Fellow at The University of Houston. Before coming to Southern Arkansas University, Dr. Ulmer was Writer-in-Residence at Houston Baptist University. He teaches Creative Writing, American Literature, World Literature, and Freshman Composition. His particular interest as a fiction writer is in the literary or psychological ghost story in the tradition of Henry James.
