{"id":190,"date":"2018-02-23T14:41:59","date_gmt":"2018-02-23T20:41:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.saumag.edu\/saustem\/?page_id=190"},"modified":"2018-02-23T14:41:59","modified_gmt":"2018-02-23T20:41:59","slug":"dok-aspire","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.saumag.edu\/saustem\/targeted-professional-development\/dok-aspire\/","title":{"rendered":"DOK\/Aspire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Targeted Professional Development: DOK\/Aspire<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">July 9-12, 2018, 8:30-3:30 daily<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Increasing Rigor and Complexity<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Depth of Knowledge (DOK) model for evaluating the complexity and rigor of objectives, learning tasks, and assessment items is new to most teachers. \u00a0Yet, DOK is being used by ACT and ACT Aspire to evaluate their assessment items. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thinking Process<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While Bloom\u2019s taxonomy gives teachers a method of evaluating learning objectives, what students are required to learn as a result of instruction, DOK levels describe the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">thinking process <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the student must use to complete the objective, task, or assessment item. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Implementing DOK<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For students to gain proficiency in responding to DOK assessment items, educators will require training in recognizing the 4 DOK levels, constructing objectives and assessment items, and helping students learn to respond to all 4 DOK levels. \u00a0.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Don\u2019t Try to Teach to the Test!<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ACT Aspire and ACT are not aligned with Arkansas\u2019 content standards. \u00a0They are aligned to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">college and career ready standards. \u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This Targeted Professional Development (TPD) is not intended to help educators \u201cteach to the test.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This TPDl is designed to help educators:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Increase the complexity and rigor of objectives, tasks, and assessment items through the use of Webb\u2019s DOK model.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Promote and assess student-learning at high cognitive levels.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Become school leaders in development and evaluation of rigorous curriculum, objectives and assessment. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Details<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This Targeted Professional Development consists of a 4-day face-to-face training and a semester to a year of follow-up. \u00a0During the face-to-face training, participants will learn about the 4 levels of DOK and develop assessments and integrated projects to use in their classroom. \u00a0Throughout the school year (one or two semesters) the participant will grow in developing DOK tasks and assessment items and helping students respond to them. \u00a0Participants will continue to collaborate with each other and with other educators in their area (or building), sharing what they have learned. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Level 1: $60\/day<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Level 2: $100\/day<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Level 3: \u00a0$150\/day <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
