Careers in poultry science

Poultry science is one of the most developed areas of the animal agriculture in U.S. and the world, and interacts with several other sciences/disciplines, allowing for professionals in poultry science to have a vast array of options when it comes to careers in the poultry industry.

It is important to understand that having a degree in poultry science does not imply working with chickens only, but as a professional in poultry science you could have the opportunity to work with several other avian species such as:

Furthermore, the poultry industry includes different areas such as breeder management, hatchery management, grow-out farms, processing, feed-milling, environmental-related activities, engineering, and others. A number of graduates have begun their poultry careers supervising broiler/breeder operations or in the production of table or fertile eggs. Others become supervisors of processing plants, feedmills, hatcheries, or even have started their own poultry farms.

Students who qualify may also continue higher degrees in different disciplines to be able to teach, conduct research or serve as key members in poultry companies.
